Gary A. Yonaites...
In additon to my normal day to day position as president of Evanston Blue Print Co., Inc., a 50 year old reprographics firm just north of Chicago, I have been writing programs of varying complexity in a most interesting and powerful programming language. Panoram
a is an almost unknown product of ProVUE Development and generally considered to be a scriptable database akin to File Maker Pro, but much, much faster and far more robust. Once I learned the basic scripting language, which is quite extensive and growing all the time, I saw the possibilities beyond the standard database world. My first venture outside the normal db constraints was to write a utility to allow me to convert digital images from the normal PICT format to a proprietary DOS format used on one of our high speed digital machines. I was even able to construct a rudimentary drawing environment all within the normally restrictive db structure. From there I expanded my horizons and have released an number of programs for general use as well as many designed to aid my fellow Panorama programmers.
Introducing Wild Icons...and its free!
My current offering is a full featured, customizable slot machine game for use on the Macintosh (PC version may follow). Wild Icons comes complete with over 200 icon images from contributing authors all over the world. You can change the slot images at will and even import your own via the clipboard. Betting can be set ($1, $2 or $3), bankroll can be reset ($1 - $99,999) and payout odds can be adjusted (from $0.98 to $1.50 average per $1 bet). There are spinning reels, sound effects (if desired!) and payout boards that change with the adjustable odds. Check out the actual screen shots and full information at the Wild Icons site then download this totally free, freeware game today!
Coming soon... The EyeChing
Another program I am writing for the Macintosh and nearing completion is my version of the ancient I-Ching which I call EyeChing. This incarnation will offer digitally generated authentic wand hexagrams displayed together with the full readings from the Wilhelm translation of the Book of Changes. All hexagrams will display both the current and future hexagram (if applicable). Readings are offered for the hexagrams, the primary trigrams, the nuclear trigrams and the individual lines. There will be a user log to keep track of all your inquiries and allowing you to regenerate previously asked questions and the hexagrams and readings that resulted. Check later to see if the EyeChing site is open for distribution.
Of interest to current Panorama users.
I have also written a number of other utility and special interest files that will be of use and interest to those lucky few fellow Panorama users. Many of these files are the same or slightly updated versions of items I have perviously uploaded to the Panorama qna list. A listing and description of these files can be found at my special Panorama utility site. If you have a file you think would be of interest to other Panorama users, I would be happy to include it at this site.
